Lombardi announces key appointments at city hall

Jan. 4—Mayor John Lombardi III on Thursday announced his 2024 appointments to the Corporation Counsel's office and Common Council standing committees.

Still to be named is a finance director to succeed Tim Russo, whose resignation took effect Thursday. Russo had been on the job since April 2020. Lombardi said an interim director will be appointed while a search is conducted for a permanent director.

Corporation Counsel — the lead city attorney — is David E. Blackley, a past, longtime deputy corporation counsel. Blackley's deputies are Kathleen Kugler and Anthony Serianni.

Lombardi appointed all six aldermen to each of the council's standing committees. The chairs are: finance committee, 1st Ward Alderman John Craig; public health and safety, 5th Ward Alderman Margaret Lupo; highways and parks, Alderman at Large Kevin Kirchberger; water and sewer, 3rd Ward Alderman Mark Devine; and the youth and personnel committees, 4th Ward Alderman Kathryn Fogle, council president.

In addition, Kirchberger was appointed to the Police Board, Craig was appointed to the Fire Board, and 2nd Ward Alderman Anita Mullane was appointed to the Community Cable Commission and the Traffic Advisory Committee.
