Lomira man, 75, dies after motorcycle crash with car on State 49 in Fond du Lac County

Update: This story was updated from an earlier version after Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office said Wednesday afternoon it was notified the driver of the motorcycle died.

TOWNSHIP OF WAUPUN — Inattentive driving is a suspected factor in a crash involving a motorcycle and vehicle that happened around 5 p.m. Tuesday on State 49 west of Church Road.

Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office said initial investigation shows a westbound passenger car was waiting to turn left into Tom Dooley Apple Orchard when a westbound motorcycle struck the car.

The driver of the motorcycle, 75-year-old James Bauer of Lomira, was flown to Aurora Medical Center Summit with life-threatening injuries and later died at Froedtert Hospital Wednesday.

The driver of the car, a 20-year-old woman from Mayville, and her passenger, a 20-year-old woman from Lomira, were not hurt.
