NEW LONDON ‒ Residents and visitors from far and near attended the 17th annual Hometown Holidays, sponsored each year by the New London Community Club and highlighting WhoLondon.

Following breakfast at the fire station on Dec. 10, the parade traveled through the downtown area, featuring the school band, Barnes Dance Studio students and special guests, including Santa and the Mrs., the Grinch, Spiderman, princesses and more.

For the kids, the fun really began with the Alpine Tubing Slide, Christmas Train rides and the chance to meet and greet all of the characters. Others enjoyed sampling donuts and coffee from the Sandusky House of Donuts and Your Daily Grind.

Indoor activities included balloon twisting, 4-H member face painting, Friends of the Library book sale, displays by Fisher-Titus and the NL-Greenwich Rail Trail, plus crafts at Circle P Creations. Other businesses offered sales, drawings and specials.

Out at the Recreation Park the Secret Santa Craft Show in the Hileman Building featured crafters and artists, while outdoors, visitors enjoyed the Inspire New London light displays.

Activities on Sunday started with Breakfast with Santa in the Hileman Building, followed by a live Nativity scene across from the Post Office and a Christmas craft workshop at Circle P.

The celebration continued with “A Wildcat Christmas” concert by the NL Local School Band and Chorus on Dec. 12 in the varsity gym.

The WhoLondon-themed decorations, displays and lights will continue through Dec. 31.
