New London teen involved in Sunday crash dies

Aug. 18—WILLMAR — A New London teen who suffered significant injuries Sunday night in a two-vehicle crash in Willmar died Monday at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, according to an obituary for the teen.

Funeral services for Ryleigh June Andreen, 17, will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 24, at Peace Lutheran Church in New London. Arrangements are with Johnson Funeral Home in New London.

A previous news release from the Willmar Police Department listed her residence as Willmar.

According to the obituary, Andreen grew up in New London where she attended Prairie Woods Elementary and New London-Spicer High School where she participated in dance.

At the time of her death, she was working as a cook at McMillan's in Willmar.

"She loved dance, the outdoors, ice fishing with her dad, spending time with her siblings and shopping with her mom. She will be remembered for her kind, loving nature, genuine care for others and huge heart for all around her," reads part of the obituary.

According to a news release from Willmar Police Chief Jim Felt, Andreen was driving a 2005 Dodge Neon southbound on 30th Street Northwest, also known as Kandiyohi County Road 5, when it crossed the center turn lane near 15th Avenue Northwest, striking a 2001 Mitsubishi Montero driven by Yaber Rayo-Laguna, 20, of Willmar.

Andreen was extricated from the vehicle and eventually airlifted to a trauma center in the Twin Cities.

Rayo-Laguna suffered slight injuries but did not require medical attention.

The investigation is ongoing.
