The Pomona Fairplex has agreed to serve as an emergency shelter for migrant children, a county official said Thursday.
- Tonight, the Long Beach City Council unanimously voted to house up to 1,000 migrant children at the Long Beach Convention Center. The Not Here, Not Anywhere Rally was held outside Long Beach City Hall to protest the 9 to 0 vote. Immigrant advocates do not support the expansion of any detention centers, the incarceration of children, or the continued criminalization of immigrants.
JANE GOULD: Don't do it the way we've seen it done in other places, where children are put in cages for long periods of time with no hope or possibility for their future.
- Well, the plan will provide shelter and food to children affected by the crisis at the border.
