Long Branch man charged with attempted murder in October shooting

FREEHOLD - A Long Branch man has been arrested and charged in connection with a shooting in West Long Branch last month that left one person injured, acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago announced Thursday.

Donte Gibson, 27, was charged with one count of first-degree attempted murder, one count of second-degree possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose and one count of second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, Santiago said.

Around 9:45 p.m. on Oct. 10, West Long Branch police responded to a convenience store on the 800 block of Broadway after receiving a report of shots being fired, Santiago said. It was later found that the victim had been dropped off at the hospital after sustaining injuries to his leg and forearm.
