November's cold and gloomy reputation is certainly being challenged across the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) this week.

Temperatures are soaring well above average and that trend is set to continue right through this first weekend of November as well. Daytime high temperatures will hit the mid-teens, with some cities even pushing 20°C by Saturday, likely breaking some daily temperature records.

These temperatures are a far cry from November's monthly average, which for the city of Toronto, sits at just 7.8°C.

It's not just the mild temperatures that are unusual for this time of year either. From now until the middle of next week, precipitation will be meager to say the least.

In a typical November, 66 mm of rain usually falls.

The milder pattern will hang on through early next week, but you'll want to savour this warmth while it lasts because the second half of the month is expected to turn much colder. We're uncertain as to exactly how quickly this pattern change will unfold, but once the colder pattern settles in, we expect it will persist through early December.
