Long Island man pretending to be a cop gropes 14-year-old teen, tries to abduct her

A creep masquerading as a Long Island police officer is wanted for trying to abduct a teenage girl, officials said Thursday.

The suspect rolled up in a white SUV to two teen girls, ages 14 and 16, on Herbert Ave. in Lindenhurst around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, cops said.

He identified himself as a police officer and asked the two teens where they were going. They said they were headed to a nearby library so he offered to drive them there, said officials.

At the library, the fraud cop told the older girl to get out of the vehicle so he could “talk” to the younger teen, cops said.

Once the older teen was outside, the suspect began groping the 14-year-old victim, but she managed to fight him off and get out of the SUV.

The teens ran to a nearby home for help as the suspect drove off.

There have been no arrests.
