Goalkeeper Timo Horn has signed for Austria's Red Bull Salzburg until the end of the season, after being without a club since leaving German boyhood side Cologne in summer.

Horn, 30, spent 21 years at Cologne and played 329 first team matches, but he was not first choice there in the end.

He will also be a reserve keeper in Salzburg, behind Austrian international Alexander Schlager.

"It feels like a really good decision to come here, and we quickly agreed on it. After 21 years at Cologne, it is time for me to find a new club that suits me and that I can identify with," Horn said in a Salzburg statement on Saturday.

"Alexander Schlager had a very good first half of the season and was really impressive. I will try to support him as best as possible for the rest of the season while also putting in the kind of performances that can make a claim for myself with the coach."
