Longmont police search for two suspected in August armed robbery
Oct. 26—The Longmont Police Department is searching for two suspects in an armed robbery that occurred at a Famous Footwear on Aug. 23.
Naxon Aguilar-Aleman, 21, and Saul Jefferson Gonzalez, 18, are suspected of robbing the Famous Footwear of 10 to 12 pairs of shoes. A gun was fired in the parking lot of the store and again into the store.
The two are suspected alongside 18-year-old Anderson Zuniga-Mendoza and 27-year-old Efrain Alejandro Reyes, who have already been arrested and are currently being held in custody on bond.
On the same day, prior to the Famous Footwear arrest, the same four suspects are believed by police to have robbed a Lids Locker Room Store in Thornton and a Dick's Sporting Goods in Aurora.
In a Facebook post, Longmont police asked that anyone who knows the locations of the two suspects, call 303-651-8501 or email Detective Schlagel at philip.schlagel@longmontcolorado.gov or call 303-651-8543. Anyone outside of Longmont who has information on Aguilar-Aleman or Gonzalez can call their local law enforcement agency and reference case no. 23-7743.
All four suspects are from the Denver metro area and police warned that Aguilar-Aleman and Gonzalez should be considered armed and dangerous. Longmont police are working with two other law enforcement agencies to arrest these individuals, according to the Facebook post.
Mendoza has been charged with four counts of attempted first degree murder — extreme indifference, aggravated robbery — menacing victim with a deadly weapon, four counts of violent crime with the use of a weapon and three counts of child abuse — knowing or reckless causing no injury, according to court records.
Reyes has been charged with aggravated robbery — menacing a victim with a deadly weapon, felony menacing — real or simulated weapon and four counts of child abuse — knowingly or recklessly causing no injury, according to court records.
Mendoza is currently in custody on a $1,000,000 bond and is scheduled to next appear in court for a review hearing on Nov. 16. Reyes does not currently have a next court hearing scheduled. Reyes was originally held on a $100,000 bond but it has since been reduced to $30,000.
According to the affidavit, at 6:19 p.m. Aug. 23, Longmont police officers were dispatched to 205 Ken Pratt Blvd. on a shooting in progress. The police were advised the suspect vehicle had left the scene in a "cream-colored van" which was later identified as a stolen gold Chevy Tahoe.
When officers arrived, they observed gunshot damage to a storefront window, according to the affidavit. Police suspect that Mendoza had a semi-automatic handgun and fired one round into the air before aiming toward the store and firing a round through the window, narrowly missing store employees and shoppers — including three children — inside.
$1,001 worth of merchandise was stolen from Famous Footwear, according to an affidavit.
In Thornton, the suspects are believed to have entered the Lids Locker Room store, 13801 Grant St., at 3:22 p.m. on Aug. 23, stealing approximately $1,000 dollars worth of jerseys and other sports merchandise, according to the affidavit. Police said Outlet Mall security chased the four suspects back to their vehicle and took a picture of them.
In the affidavit, police said the same four suspects were then caught on surveillance footage entering a Dick's Sporting Goods at 6305 S. Main St. in Aurora. The four suspects are accused of taking stolen items from the store while one of the suspects held a handgun in the air.
