Longmont Public Library offers free document scanning, transmission service

Mar. 1—The Longmont Public Library announced Monday that it has introduced what it's calling a "Scan to Fax or Email Service," a new copier to allow library patrons to securely scan documents and send them to recipients via fax or email.

Library staff said in a news release that the new photocopier will permit patrons with Longmont Public Library cards to privately scan documents and send them to another destination, free of any charge. That could include tax filing forms, job applications, school forms or any other documents, "secure in the knowledge that the information is not retained."

Staff said the new service is available in the library's Adult Computer Lab standing computer stations inside the east entrance to the facility on the 300 block of Emery Street. Use of those computers currently requires reservations due to pandemic restrictions. Fifteen-minute reservations may be made by calling calling 303-651-8769.

Further information is available on the Longmont Public Library website, LongmontColorado.gov/Library, as well as the facility's web page about its computers, printing and WiFi services, bit.ly/LibComputing.
