(KRON) — Longtime San Francisco Giants shortstop Brandon Crawford has found a new home, according to multiple reports on Friday including MLB.com. Crawford has reportedly signed a deal with the St. Louis Cardinals.

According to MLB.com, Crawford, 37, still has to pass a physical exam before the deal can be official. The Cardinals have not officially confirmed the reports, but Crawford posted an Instagram story on Monday with the song “Paint the Town Red” by Doja Cat, seemingly alluding to the Cardinals’ primary color.

Crawford played for the Giants from 2011-2023, winning two World Series titles and making three All-Star games in that time. His impressive list of accolades also includes four Gold Glove awards and a Silver Slugger.

He struggled in 2023, posting a career-worst batting average of .194 and hitting seven home runs in 93 games, prompting the Giants to move on from him. Two years earlier, he finished fourth in National League MVP voting while helping the Giants win the NL West.

Crawford grew up in the Bay Area and attended Foothill High School in Pleasanton. He was a Giants fan growing up and was photographed as a 5-year-old pleading Giants ownership to keep the team in San Francisco. A move to Tampa Bay was rumored at the time.

In his time with the Giants, Crawford faced the Cardinals in two playoff series, helping his hometown team beat his new club in the National League Championship Series in 2012 and 2014.

According to MLB.com, Crawford will open the season as a backup to rookie shortstop Masyn Winn.
