Longtime hardware store expanding into Clovis: ‘It only took 147 years for this to happen’

One of the oldest hardware stores in Fresno is opening a new branch in Clovis.

Fresno Ag Hardware, known for carrying hard-to-find items that big hardware stores often don’t have in stock, is launching a store at the southeast corner of Clovis and Herndon avenues.

Located at the Trading Post shopping center, the new Fresno Ag Hardware store will take over the spot formerly occupied by the Tuesday Morning store that closed in February.

Fresno Ag Hardware, which was established more than a century ago when Ulysses S. Grant was the U.S. President, joked on social media how it’s taken the store quite a while to expand into Clovis.

“It only took 147 years for this to happen, but here we are,” the Fresno Ag Hardware post reads.

It was not known when the Fresno Ag store in Clovis will open. Messages left with a Fresno Ag Hardware board of director was not immediately returned Saturday.

A “Fresno Ag” banner draped on the building, where the Tuesday Morning signed used to be located, reads “Opening Soon.”

Fresno Ag, meanwhile, will continue to operate its Fresno store, which is located near the intersection of First Street and Gettysburg.

Once the branch opens in Clovis, the new Fresno Ag Hardware store will give nearby residents another option to turn to for home repairs and yard work.

Other popular hardware stores in the Clovis include Lowe’s, Home Depot, Ace Hardware and Harbor Freight Tools.
