Longtime steakhouse name in popular Columbia shopping area is gone, new name takes its place

A Brazilian steakhouse that has been serving customers in a popular Columbia retail area for more than a decade has recently rebranded.

Rioz Brazilian Steakhouse, located at 410 Columbiana Drive, is now called Braza Do Sul, and it continues to operate as a Brazilian steakhouse.

“As part of our unwavering dedication to growth and excellence, we have embarked on a rebranding initiative,” the restaurant said on Instagram and Facebook. “This new chapter promises to elevate our promise of delivering exceptional experiences for our valued guests. We assure our new name change will not impact our steadfast commitment to quality, service, and culinary excellence. We look forward to continuing our journey alongside you, embracing new opportunities and possibilities together.”

In a response to commenters on a Feb. 3 Facebook post announcing the change, the restaurant said it would have “Same service, management, and food.”

Known as churrascarias, Brazilian steakhouses are famous for their rotating menus of meat — pork, lamb, beef and more that are brought to the customers in rotation and carved and served tableside.

Braza Do Sul is located on a busy thoroughfare just north of the Columbiana Centre mall and the larger Harbison shopping district and its plethora of restaurants, big-box stores, movie theaters, bars and more. About 95,000 cars per day travel down Interstate 26 nearby, according to state Department of Transportation statistics.
