Longtime Westport bakery building getting new tenant. It’s not a restaurant

A brick Westport building that had long been home to bakeries will soon house a medical marijuana dispensary.

Cleveland-based The Forest plans to open at 706 Westport Road in August or September after it remodels the space.

It has two retail locations in Ohio with a third scheduled to open in Cincinnati in 2023. Products include flower, concentrates, vapes, edibles and topicals.

In a statement, the company said: “With our growing list of products, we will partner with you to find the relief you’ve been looking for. Our mission is to improve quality of life through safe and easy access to cannabis.”

Only Missouri residents with state-issued medical marijuana cards can buy cannabis legally.

Napoleon Bakery had long operated in the space, then Kansas City Bread Co.

Baked in Kansas City opened in early 2014. It closed its retail operations there in 2018 but continued to do wholesale in the spot for about a year.
