Here’s a Look at the 2020 Audi e-tron Sportback Electric “Coupe” SUV
Audi snuck its new e-tron Sportback SUV into the Geneva auto show wearing a camouflage disguise.
The new model will be mechanically identical to the existing e-tron SUV.
We already caught the e-tron Sportback testing earlier this year, and it seems a debut is imminent.
The paint has barely dried on Audi’s new e-tron electric SUV, and the company is already getting ready to show its coupe-like derivative. We spotted what looks like the production version of the e-tron Sportback sitting at a Volkswagen Group event ahead of the Geneva auto show, wrapped in an orange and black camouflage paint scheme similar to earlier prototypes of the e-tron and the e-tron GT concept cars.
We don’t know any official information about the Sportback at this point, as Audi has yet to issue a press release, but we can safely assume it’ll be mechanically identical to the standard e-tron. The key differentiator is the more rakish roofline and shapelier rear end, as the Sportback looks the same as the standard e-tron from the B-pillar forward.
Last month, we spotted the e-tron Sportback undergoing testing while wearing much more camouflage. This orange-and-black disguise gives us a better and closer look at some of the Sportback's details, confirming our earlier suspicion that it shares almost all exterior components with the standard e-tron.
An Audi spokesperson confirmed to Car and Driver that what you see here is the upcoming Sportback, and we will continue to update this story as we learn more information.
