- Country music's biggest stars are aligning for Sunday's 56th Academy of Country Music Awards. The show takes place in Nashville, the country music capital of the world, and promises dozens of live performances, one-of-a-kind collaborations, and historic firsts. Our Karen Borta has a preview.

KAREN BORTA: The 56th Academy of Country Music Awards show is smashing stereotypes. For the first time ever, a Black woman is hosting.

MICKEY GUYTON: I'm so excited! It's going to be such a beautiful time.

KAREN BORTA: Arlington native Mickey Guyton will share hosting duties with Keith Urban.

MICKEY GUYTON: We have been relentlessly working on how to make sure that this genre is more inclusive.

KEITH URBAN: I'm so grateful that Mickey is doing it with me this year.

KAREN BORTA: And for the first time in ACM history, five Black artists are nominated for awards in a single year.

KEITH URBAN: There's all kinds of country. So I love the fact that we're getting to finally show the breadth and diversity of the genre itself.

KAREN BORTA: Jimmy Allen is the new Male Artist of the Year. And Kane Brown is the first Black country artist nominated for the coveted Album of the Year award. His "Worldwide Beautiful" has already won Video of the Year.

KANE BROWN: This is just me saying that, you know, everybody should just love everybody. And all this hatred and everything should just kind of stop.

MICKEY GUYTON: I am absolutely seeing country music evolving and becoming more inclusive. We're better together than separated.

KEITH URBAN: I'm glad that we're moving in absolutely the right direction.

KAREN BORTA: At least 25 artists are taking several iconic Nashville stages, including the Grand Ole Opry, Bluebird Cafe, and Broadway Avenue, for world premieres and exciting collaborations.

MICKEY GUYTON: Maren Morris and Ryan Hurd. Kelsea Ballerini and Kenny Chesney. Dierks Bentley with War and Treaty. And there's a lot of Black acts. I'm even getting to perform!

KEITH URBAN: It's going to be fantastic! It's live, it's happening. Anything can happen, including train wrecks. Tune in. (LAUGHS) It'll be a blast.

KAREN BORTA: And you can catch the 56th Academy of Country Music Awards Sunday night on CBS 11, and streaming live and on demand on Paramount+.

- It's going to be a great night. By the way, Chris Stapleton and Arlington native Maren Morris lead this year's class of nominees. They've got six each. The 56th Academy of Country Music Awards is this Sunday. It all gets started at 7:00 right here on CBS 11, and it will stream live on Paramount+.
