RYAN BOYER: Injuries have been a problem all throughout baseball, but the White Sox have been hit harder than most clubs. Earlier this week the White Sox were dealt another blow when Yasmani Grandal had surgery to repair a torn tendon in his left knee. The team is only saying at this point that they expect Grandal to return at some point later this season, but it's safe to say his absence will be a long one.

Grandal has had a fascinating season for the White Sox while he has put up just a 188 average in 63 games. The catcher's on base percentage is 388 thanks to 60 walks, and he's also clubbed 14 home runs. His absence, no doubt will be felt by a club that's already lost Lois Roberts, Eloy Jimenez, and Nick Madrigal to long-term injuries. Zack Collins is expected to receive the bulk of the stars at catcher while Grandal is out.

A former first round pick in top 100 prospect, Collin's numbers at the Major League level thus far have been underwhelming due in part to a lot of strikeouts. However, Collins Statcast numbers have been good when he does make contact. And he said for a good amount of power in the minors. In two catcher leagues, Collins is worth a shot.
