A look at five Winnebago County Fair food vendors

PECATONICA — The Winnebago County Fair kicked off Wednesday, the last fair of the summer in the Rockford area.

Highlighting this year’s fair are a demolition derby, a 4-H petting zoo, live music, and concessions from a host of food and drink vendors.

Here’s a look at five of the more than 30 stands that are setting up shop at the Winnebago County Fair this year.

Whiskey Hotel Barbecue

Whiskey Hotel features an array of smoked meats with traditional sides—coleslaw, beans, corn and more. Popular menu items are the Texas beef brisket and South Carolina pork shoulder.

Kristina & Son's Kitchen

The offerings at Kristina & Son’s include nachos, grilled cheese, kraut balls, pork schnitzel, apple strudel and cheeseburgers. There’s also slushies, popcorn, fries, and pizza.

By The Dozen Bakery

That’s right. The popular Machesney Park bakery is taking its show on the road this week. The bakery is known for its cookies, donuts, brownies, muffins and more.

Sonny's Italian Ice

Winnebago County Fair staple, Sonny’s is known for its tasty Italian ice, gelato, and cannolis.

Ryals Concessions

The fair wouldn’t be the fair without funnel cakes, and Ryals is known for them. The stand is also known for its corn dogs, elephant ears, and lemon shake-ups.
