Utah will be wearing special hand-painted helmets that honor the MUSS, the university’s student section, on Saturday against Oregon.

On “The Pat McAfee Show” Friday morning live from the university’s campus, Utah quarterback Cam Rising came out with the special-edition helmet to roars from the assembled crowd at Presidents Circle as fans chanted, “One more year!”

One side of the red helmet has a depiction of the MUSS flag, with the silhouette of a crowd of students below it, while the other side has a depiction of a Utah flag. On the back of the helmet is the “3rd Down Jump” sign, a longtime tradition for students at Rice-Eccles Stadium. The flags are a nod to the many flags fans wave in the stands at Utah games.

Utah will pair the helmet with red jerseys and white pants.

Since 2016, Utah has commissioned an artist to hand-paint each of the helmets for one of the biggest games of the season.

Oregon, known for its endless combinations of uniforms, will wear black helmets with carbon-fiber wings, white jerseys with green numbers and black pants.

No. 13 Utah and No. 8 Oregon kick off at 1:30 p.m. MDT on Saturday at Rice-Eccles Stadium. The game will be televised on Fox and ESPN 700 AM/92.1 FM will have the radio broadcast.
