Soccer superstar Lionel Messi's new home in the exclusive community of Bay Colony in Fort Lauderdale was the subject of an extreme makeover by Lori Morris, one of Canada's most prestigious interior designers.

Although the renovation was completed on the waterfront home at 91 Compass Lane in 2019, a Morris representative said the interior design looked essentially the same as when Messi and his family would have seen it during their home search in the past two months. The design, which was called White Heat, was featured in Florida Design Magazine, according to a listing on Redfin.com.

The 10,490-square-foot home wasn't publicly marketed for sale when Messi bought it, but images on real estate-related websites from a 2022 listing confirm the matching aesthetics, which are described as "both glamorous and comfortable."

The designs featured in the original makeover include grand Murano glass chandeliers, black velvet wall panels with a matching banquette and white leather curved sofa, and porcelain tile flooring that resembles wood grain but is a "hardy, low maintenance surface for pets, sports shoes and high traffic."

Messi and his wife, Antonela Roccuzzo, have three young sons.

The $10.75 million sale of the home was finalized Sept. 1 with a deed filed Sept. 11 in Broward County official records. The purchaser is listed as the Florida limited liability company Sadani, whose manager is Alfonso Nebot Armisen, a wealth manager and member of the Leo Messi foundation.

Bay Colony, a gated community in east Fort Lauderdale, is about 5 miles from DRV PNK Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, where Messi's team Inter Miami CF is based. The estate features two docks, eight bedrooms, nine bathrooms, a fitness/spa room, and a 27-foot dome ceiling foyer.

In 2019, Canadian designer Lori Morris outfitted a home in the exclusive Bay Colony neighborhood in Fort Lauderdale. It was bought in September 2023 by soccer superstar Lionel Messi. Morris representatives said the 2019 design remained through the sale.

Messi had been looking in southern Palm Beach County and Broward County for a house that would give his family a home outside the extreme celebrity fanfare of Miami.

"This mansion exemplifies the pinnacle of modern luxury living seamlessly blending contemporary elegance with timeless charm," a representative of Morris said in a press release. "Every corner of the house shows Lori Morris's signature touch, with intricate details and bespoke finishes that speak to the highest standards of luxury design."
