LOOK: Justin Fields predicts his rookie Madden rating

Now that former Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields is officially in the NFL, his focus most definitely has to be on looking forward to what he’ll be in Madden when he is given a rookie rating. Sure, there’s the learning the playbook, getting acclimated to the city of Chicago, and other things, but getting a rating in the most popular NFL sports video game franchise is the right of passage all football warriors hope to achieve.

On that note, “The Checkdown” shared some of the rookie quarterback’s thoughts on what their rookie ratings would be on Madden, and clearly, they don’t all understand how these things work. Rookies aren’t exactly given the benefit of the doubt, but apparently, that doesn’t matter much for Mac Jones, Zach Wilson, and Trey Lance.

Jones believes he’ll be rated “maybe like 85,” (yeah, keep dreaming), Lance has decided to lock himself in at an 88 (OK?), and Wilson’s going fringe Hall of Fame out of the gate with a prediction of 90 (spits water out) because “it’s OK, but not great because I haven’t done anything yet.”

Not great?

Just so we’re all clear, Tom Brady was a 90 last year. Fields, on the other hand, is the only realistic one.

“To be honest, I think my Madden rating is going to be like a 78 through 81, of course, just because … rookies,” Fields said.

Nice try guys. We hate to disappoint, but Fields’ rating is likely the only one that gets anywhere near his prediction. Take a look at the quick video of all four of them squirming trying to figure it all out below.

It’s sure going to be fun when all these Madden ratings are released. I can’t wait to get a good chuckle at least three of these guys’ expense. Of course, it’s the on-the-field play that means much more, but this was still comical.
