'You look so old': Michelle Yeoh’s mom was 'upset' over her appearance in 'Everything Everywhere'

After watching “Everything Everywhere All at Once,” Michelle Yeoh’s mother was more concerned about how “old” her daughter looked than about hot dog fingers and sex toy props.
In the Daniels' record-breaking film, Yeoh, 60, plays Evelyn Wang, a Chinese American immigrant mother.
“[She’s] an Asian immigrant who you would pass by in Chinatown and probably not notice,” Yeoh recently told W Magazine. “She’s sort of invisible.”
“To get [Evelyn’s] look, I wore a wig with lots of white hair, reading glasses around my neck and very practical clothing,” Yeoh said. “I had to change my posture — this is a woman who doesn’t have time to exercise. She has to look frumpy."

While watching the acclaimed film with her mother, Yeoh was initially worried about “the sex toys that were flying around in the movie.”
However, Yeoh said her mother focused on her appearance instead.
"I think my mother was upset when she saw the film. ... [My mother] said, 'Why do you look so old? You should look like the film where you had the ballgown on!' I’m like, 'Oh my God.'"

"But that’s so typical of my mom: She wants me to run around the entire movie looking like a movie star," Yeoh added.

Yeoh has been nominated for a Critics’ Choice Award and recently won a Golden Globe, leaving many to believe that an Oscar nomination is in the cards for the beloved Malaysian actor.
