In case you didn’t know, there’s a matchup between former Ohio State and Michigan quarterbacks brewing this weekend in Tampa, Florida. That’s because former Buckeye signal-caller Justin Fields is bringing his Chicago Bears to town to take on former Wolverine quarterback Tom Brady and the reigning Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

It’s a rare treat. In fact, it’s the first time Brady has gone to battle against a former OSU quarterback during his storybook career, one that spans almost 22 years and will end up being chronicled in Canton, Ohio.

Brady was asked about the prospects of going against his college’s arch-rival and at first seemed to steer away from trolling a Buckeye program that has owned the Wolverines as of late, but then changed gears and provided a little jab.

“I’m not gonna say anything too inflammatory about Ohio State,” Brady said. “That’s not such a good idea. But, I’ll have my time. Usually Ohio State week, but this is Michigan State week. Those are the guys I can kind of go after.

“That’s interesting. Why aren’t there a lot of Ohio State quarterbacks in the pros? There’s a lot of Michigan guys over the years. Not a lot of Ohio State guys.”

You can see the sly comments below.

To be fair, we don’t blame Brady for stretching things a bit. It’s given that he’s one of the best to ever do it at the quarterback position in the NFL, but there’s little to go by as far as substance goes from NFL quarterbacks that wear the maize and blue. But it’s probably pretty hard for the G.O.A.T. to continue to be embarrassed by his college program’s shortcomings on the field, especially against all things Scarlet and Gray.

And yeah, we’re all familiar with the well-chronicled void with Ohio State quarterbacks in the NFL. Hopefully, Justin Fields can start to reverse that trend.

If you want to watch this matchup and have a way to get the game, the Fields and the Bears will try and knock off the champs Sunday at 4:25 p.m. EDT. CBS has the game.
