A Look At Tyler Perry’s Support Of Black Actresses In Hollywood

There has been a lot of chatter recently about who will be purchasing BET networks now that Paramount is looking to sell a majority stake in the company. Names like Diddy, Shaq and 50 Cent have been thrown around to possibly take hold of the network, which will also come with VH1. Rumors are now rolling in that Tyler Perry is finalizing the deal. Although there has been no confirmation about the alleged deal, Perry has already gotten support from several big names in the industry.

Keke Palmer took to Instagram to congratulate Perry on his accomplishments. She worked with him on several television and film productions at a very young age. In 2006, Palmer starred alongside Perry in “Madea’s Family Reunion,” then the two worked together again in Perry’s “House of Payne” series.

“He came from nothing and changed everything,” Palmer captioned her Instagram post. “Tyler Perry, I watched you up close and personal since I was 11 years old. Then and now, you continue to be an inspiration! You work hard, and you give back, and you are a Virgo. What’s left to be said? Congrats, Virgo father. Ily!”

Starting with Angela Basset. Tyler Perry featured the actress in 2008 as the lead in his film, “Meet The Browns.” She played Brenda, a woman who finds out her father ,whom she never met, is having a funeral in the south. She goes to the funeral and ends up meeting her new love interest,

Tyler Perry also featured Janet Jackson and her acting skills in three of his films. She starred in “Why Did I Get Married” and its sequel, “Why Did I Get Married Too.” He also cast her in his film adaptation of “For Colored Girls.”

Tyler Perry gave Taraji P. Henson several opportunities in his films. He cast her in not one, not two, but three films. She starred in “The Family That Preys,” “I Can Do Bad All By Myself,” as well as “Acrimony.”
