We looked for Alamance County summer jobs still available for teenagers. Here's what we found

As summer slowly simmers away, and inflation continues to rise, a summer job may be a good opportunity for teenagers to get a taste of responsibility and dive into the world of savings.

As a teenager of a single mother and two sisters, a summer job was a hot item on my to-do list. As soon as I was 15-and-a-half, the legal working age in some states, I applied to Wendy's and worked with my childhood best friend.

While spending my summers covered in bacon grease and sticky lemonade wasn't glamourous; a summer job provided me with an opportunity to relieve some financial pressures off my mom. I was able to save for college and eventually even able to take a trip to Europe at 16 from my summer job; I was proud.

Whether saving for school, helping your family, or preparing for a trip, summer jobs can be a great opportunity to develop agency and responsibility in youth.

around to see what jobs were available for teenagers in Alamance County on Monday, July 11; here's what I found.

While many businesses, such as MapleView Creamery located in Gibsonville, are done hiring for the summer season but are beginning to hire their fall staff.

When I called MapleView Creamery, the manager explained that as college students return to campus, more job opportunities will open as the fall months roll in.

Nonetheless, many businesses such as fast-food restaurants, outlet stores, and coffee shops are hiring starting around the age of 16 and up.

I was unable to confirm the age requirement for a few places, such as Laser Tag Virtual Reality Esport's Ground Zero and Mama's Italian Restaurant, both located in Burlington, which are hiring managers and other staff as of now.
