Looking for affordable Sacramento Kings tickets? Here are 7 places to check

Looking for Sacramento Kings tickets? You’re not the only one.

Die-hard fans know how to snag the best game tickets, but for those who want to hop on the Kings bandwagon before the playoffs, we got you. Sacramento Kings tickets can get pricey fast and while it may be enticing to buy arena seats from resellers for a cheaper cost, it’s always a gamble.

The Kings have 15 regular season games left until the play-in tournament kicks off April 11. The playoffs start shortly after on April 14 and while the Kings have a good chance of making the playoffs, it’s too early to know for sure.

A $30 all-star membership to Sacramento Kings Kids Club was a cheap way to score two free Kings tickets. But “due to high demand,” it’s no longer included in the membership benefits.

The Sacramento Bee tested several popular avenues for affordable tickets including apps, websites, subscriptions and exchange programs.

Here’s what we found:

Ticketmaster

Ticket distribution company Ticketmaster is known to offer some of the highest protection when purchasing tickets.

Reliability will cost you.

Hours before the Kings took on the Milwaukee Bucks in March at the Golden 1 Center in downtown Sacramento, Ticketmaster sold $40 tickets to an unreserved section inside the arena. Taxes and fees tacked on another nearly $21 at checkout.

The cheapest tickets for reserved seating started at roughly $60 for seats within one of the last sections inside the indoor arena, plus an additional $19 for taxes and fees.

Golden 1 Center box office

Golden 1 Center’s box office at 500 David J Stern Walk sells Kings tickets at prices similar to Ticketmaster, without the additional fees.

The box office is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and noon to showtime during weekend events.

The catch: Tickets must be purchased in person at the box office.

The box office can be reached at 916-704-5401 during business hours.

Gametime

Gametime sells “on-time and authentic” last-minute tickets to concerts, sports and theater.

If you find cheaper tickets somewhere else, Gametime credits your account for future purchases, according to its website. Just remember the company prices tickets for however much it likes, meaning prices may be set above or below face value.

The cheapest tickets to the Kings versus Bucks game cost $50 (plus $20 in fees). The price is still less than the lowest-cost reserved seats on Ticketmaster.

If you don’t care about where you sit, discounted tickets for specific sections of the arena are available, but they sell out fast. You get the seat details after your purchase.

Another tip: Purchase a ticket as soon as the game starts. Typically the cost is further discounted.

StubHub

The cheapest tickets on StubHub to the Kings versus Bucks game cost $63 plus $23 in fees.

SeatGeek

The cheapest tickets on SeatGeek to the Kings versus Bucks game cost $50.

We couldn’t see our total cost, fees included, until after we entered our credit card and billing information. The fees added another $21 to the bill.

Similar to ticket platforms like Gametime and Stub Hub, the closer you buy your tickets to game time, the cheaper they typically cost.

Sacramento Kings ticket exchange Reddit forum

r/Kings TicketExchange Reddit forum, created in 2016, is regularly used by Kings fans to buy and sell game tickets.

Full disclosure: This is one of the cheapest ways to buy tickets — also the riskiest.

The forum has more than 1,000 members and has a pinned list of “top trusted sellers.”

There were two separate posts for the Kings versus Bucks game, each with more than 30 comments and at least five upvotes from people exchanging tickets. Once tickets were claimed, the comment was edited to “sold.”

Kings pass

King passes are sold out but bookmark them for next season.

Between October and March, you can see nine home games once a month for $179. You’re guaranteed seats in the upper level of the Golden 1 Center but won’t know the specific seat until a day before each game.

Remember: Passes are both nontransferable and nonrefundable.
