Looking for budget-friendly furnishings? Try these Augusta area stores

Whether it's for a new house to call home or for a first college dorm, a lot of people in Augusta are on the hunt for furnishings this time of year.

Between a bed, seating, dressers, tables and more, furnishing a home can become very expensive. This is why it's important to snag on to a deal when there's one available. Deep discount stores help make this happen. There are also overstock shops that specialize in selling other companies' liquidated merchandise at a low cost.

The Augusta area has several of these kinds of budget-friendly businesses. Here are a few of them along with some of the bigger deals that are available as of Aug. 9:

Big Lots has a little bit of everything one would need from their home. Because it's a liquidation store, the prices are fairly low. There are several sectional couches at or around $1,000. Many of the desks are $200 or less. Various wall art is available for between $10 and $30. The chain is currently having a summer clearance event, meaning patio furniture, gazebos, and outdoor rugs are selling at 40% off.

Wall hangings start at about $6.
