Looking for a classic, affordable Jamestown lunch spot? Here's one that's sure to satisfy

Although the Newport area is known for its delicious seafood and restaurants, it isn’t necessarily known for moderately-priced, quick lunch stops. The East Ferry Deli defies these odds, establishing itself as a relaxed, waterfront sandwich shop. Surrounded by classy, sit-down restaurants and boutiques, the deli is in contrast with its quaint, old-school atmosphere fit for those of all ages.

The deli’s menu is jam-packed with traditional, specialty — like its year-round Thanksgiving special, and make-your-own sandwich options. Your wish is practically the deli’s command with the number of options it boasts. All priced at around $10-13, the sandwiches are perfectly filling. If you’re in the mood for a more healthy option, the deli also offers various types of salads and fruit.

You can eat inside the nautical-themed shop, bring it outside under the deli’s famous blue umbrellas, or take it to go. In the summer, you can often find people lounging under the umbrellas for hours, sharing stories and laughs. With the East Ferry Deli’s proximity to Jamestown’s peaceful coastline, there are also a number of scenic locations to bring your sandwiches for a picnic — if you can hold off eating it for a short drive! Just the other day, I enjoyed my Cuban sandwich — which was toasted just right — on the rocks at Beavertail State Park, around a 10-minute ride from the deli.

In addition to their classic sandwiches, the East Ferry Deli serves breakfast, with an assortment of pastries, bagels, and breakfast sandwiches. Stop by on your way to the beach for a quick bite.
