Rebranded at Donald Ross Village in the fall of 2021, the popular Coolinary Café and its sister the Parched Pig expanded to operate under one roof and became, simply, Coolinary. Owners (chef) Tim and Jenny Lipman nearly doubled the kitchen size when they moved their nearly 9-year-old restaurant down the plaza in Palm Beach Gardens.

This small café sprang from a fish market that sprang from a catering operation. It’s cozy with an island feel and just a few tables and high-tops. The menu, depends on what’s been caught that day. You can buy fish at the retail counter and cook it yourself at home or let the experts do it. They’ll season it with house-mixed spices and serve it with homemade condiments.

The space that housed Vic and Angelo’s for 14 years before it was Scusi, which closed in late 2019, is now Prezzo, a trattoria known for its interpretation of Italian classics. French Grill House

Brothers Olivier and Edouard Delrieu snatched up this indoor-outdoor space when it became available in early 2020. The pandemic slowed down the opening of the eatery which serves wood-fired meats and fish grilled to order and served with your choice of recommended fresh sauces.

Northwood Canteen and Provisions

Fort Lauderdale residents Jon Scott and Colleen Hickey claimed the Bistro Bistro location and kept the quiche and brioche bread that the bistro was known for. They added a small but diverse wine list and kept the French café feel. What they ended up with is an American restaurant, bakery, sandwich shop and gourmet food store.

Pitmaster and caterer Cleveland Stubbs brought his unique style of barbecue to the Village Commons plaza. It’s a mix of Texas, Memphis and Carolina-style ‘cue with a dash of Caribbean flavors. He also serves a mean hickory smoked whole rotisserie chicken and Southern fried chicken in a box. This new spot offers Mediterranean Fusion by chef Ilan Cohen, who began his career in Jerusalem more than 20 years ago. He and his wife Lauren opened Falafel Bistro & Wine Bar in Coral Springs in 2007 and have been serving authentic Israeli cuisine to the South Florida community for more than a decade. Now they bring a new twist on ancient cuisine. Grilled lamb chops and majadara (Middle Eastern risotto) are menu favorites.

Eat District
