If you’re looking for fireworks shows in the Chicago region for Fourth of July, or all summer long on Navy Pier, we have the list.
Fireworks displays were hugely popular last summer — Independence Day weekend was one of the first times people felt safe gathering outdoors to celebrate — but not every town was up and running. More shows are back for 2022.
Downtown Chicago fireworks at Navy Pier are every Wednesday at 9 p.m. and Saturday at 10 p.m., including Saturday, July 2; more at navypier.org.
Chicago-area communities are listed below with their pyrotechnics plans, 76 in all, most for Independence Day weekend with July 4 falling on a Monday this year. If no time is mentioned, most displays begin at dusk at about 9:30 p.m. and last about half an hour. We will keep updating this list but please check with your local show before you go, or email us if we’re missing one:
Antioch: The Fourth of July Party at the Park at Williams Park (400 Williams St.) will have bands starting at 4 p.m..fireworks at 9:15 p.m.; www.antioch.il.gov
Arlington Heights: The local Frontier Days Festival at Recreation Park (500 E. Miner St.) is back for 2022; www.frontierdays.org. But the village has not yet announced plans for fireworks; www.vah.com
Aurora: The city of Aurora will host a July 4 fireworks display best viewed from RiverEdge Park (360 N. Broadway Ave.) with music from DJ Suave Smooth; and McCullough Park (150 W. Illinois Ave.) with music from DJ Pena; www.aurora-il.org
Barrington: The celebrations in northwest suburban Barrington begin July 1 at dusk with fireworks at Barrington High School (616 W. Main St.). Downtown parade begins at 10 a.m. July 4; www.barrington-il.gov
Bartlett: The town’s Fourth of July Festival is on for July 4 in Community Park (corner of South Bartlett and Stearns Roads). Fireworks are scheduled to start at 9:30 p.m. and finish at around 10 p.m.; www.bartlett4thofjuly.com
Batavia: The “Batavia Sky Concert” will be 9:30 p.m. July 4 with fireworks set to music. A concert by the Batavia Community Band begins at 8:30 p.m.; bataviafireworks.org/show-details
Beecher: The Fourth of July Commission in the town of Beecher will host the 4th of July Festival from July 1-4. Look for fireworks at 9:30 p.m. July 4 at Firemen’s Park, 675 Penfield St.; www.villageofbeecher.org
Bensenville: The usual Independence Day Parade kicks off Bensenville’s “LibertyFest” celebration at 10 a.m. on July 4 starting at Town Center (12 S. Center St.) and ending at the Redmond Recreational Complex (545 John St.). There will be live entertainment, food, drinks and a fireworks show. Music begins at 6 p.m. with DJ M.B. Entertainment, followed by Libido Funk Circus at 7:30 p.m. Fireworks will be launched from the Public Works facility at 9:30 p.m.; www.bensenville.il.us
Bolingbrook: Grounds open at 3 p.m. July 4 for live music and fireworks at Bolingbrook Golf Club (2001 Rodéo Drive); www.bolingbrook.com
Bridgeview: The village’s “3rd of July Celebration” will include music, food trucks and fireworks at 9:15 p.m. July 3 in Commissioners Park (8100 S. Beloit Ave.); bridgeviewparkdistrict.com
Buffalo Grove: The village is planning fireworks shows at about 9:20 p.m. July 4 at Willow Stream Park (651 Old Checker Road). Police will be closing Lake Cook, Checker and Church Roads from 9:15 p.m. to 9:45 p.m.; www.vbg.org
Burr Ridge: The Pleasant Dale Park District’s fireworks will be at dusk on July 3 in Walker Park (7425 S. Wolf Road). Food vendors will be there at 5:30 p.m. offering snacks and nonalcoholic drinks. Parking passes ($20) on sale; pdparks.org

Des Plaines: The city plans a fireworks display July 1 at Oakton Community College (1600 Golf Road), with gates opening at 7 p.m.; www.desplaines.org

Elgin: Parade at 9 a.m. July 4. Starting at 4 p.m., food trucks will be parked along Grove Street. The city will host a concert at 7 p.m. at Festival Park (132 S. Grove Ave.) The night will end with a fireworks display at about 9:20 p.m. on the Fox River; www.cityofelgin.org
Elk Grove Village: The village plans to host a July 4 celebration this year, with a concert by KC and the Sunshine Band at 8 p.m. on Rotary Green (164 Lions Drive) and fireworks afterward, sponsored by the Lions Club; www.elkgrove.org

Glenwood: The town’s Fourth of July Parade and Festival begins with a parade at 1 p.m. July 4 (route is Strieff to Pleasant to 187th Street to Main and Rebecca). Lake Forest: The 15th Annual Lake Forest Festival and Fireworks will be July 4 at Deerpath Community Park (95 Deerpath).
