Looking for fireworks in Texas? Here are places to satisfy your pyrotechnic needs

The Fourth of July is fast approaching and you want fireworks to celebrate, but you don’t where to find them. Here are a few North Texas companies who have expertise and can help you sort out your pyrotechnic needs.

Alamo Fireworks

Location: Fort Worth, Burleson, Mansfield and Benbrook

Alamo spokesperson Chelsea Bode says the first thing people should know is where they are planning to set off their fireworks. The site must be legal and safe and you should be able to shoot fireworks from a flat surface. Always have a water source nearby, and never shoot towards, people, animals, building, or near tall grass or trees.

Alamo stores have picked some of their favorite fireworks, including a few from each category and in various price points, and have displayed them at all of their locations. If customers are unsure what they want, Bode says, that’s always a great place to start. All of the megastores are also run by operators who have completed the “Certified Experts program” and they’re specifically trained to help customers find exactly what they’re looking for.

Benny’s Bad Azz Fireworks

Location: 5050 Knob Hill Rd, Azle

Shari and Sam Hart of Benny’s Bad Azz Fireworks say they recommend certain products based on the needs of the customer. Some questions you can ask yourself to figure out what to buy: Do you want loud or quiet, pretty or fast, light once and see a show or have the fun in lighting them? Any pets, livestock or young children? What is your budget?

They shared these four tips for fireworks buyers:

  1. Don’t wait until the Fourth of July to buy your fireworks. Lines are long and the best of the best will be sold out. Fireworks are already on sale and you should buy them within the next few days. Don’t wait until the last minute.

  2. Aerial fireworks can be safer than ground fireworks. Aerial fireworks are meant to go out before they ever hit the ground and fountains spark all over the ground. Also, fountains should be placed on a platform or table for a greater visual effect.

  3. Purchase from a fireworks stand or warehouse where the salesperson knows the products. Take their recommendations after describing your audience and budget. It’s hard to know what you are purchasing just by looking at the package.

  4. Just like everything else, know that the prices have gone up due to shipping costs.

Eagle Fireworks

Location: 9120 Boat Club Rd, Fort Worth

Josh Monaco started Eagle Fireworks 10 years ago based on a passion for fireworks and a frustration with local stands in Texas charging too much.

“We have a lot of folks coming to buy for the first time, as they may have moved from states where fireworks are not allowed,” Monaco said.

He says the most important thing with fireworks is safety. Follow all manufacturer labels and guidelines.

When buying, it’s important to know and follow the fireworks laws for the area where you live or plan to light them, Monaco says. Because you can buy them, it doesn’t mean it is legal to shoot them in your location.

Once you plan to be safe and know the rules, shop around, as prices vary greatly from stand to stand. Also, ask questions. At Eagle, the employees know what each firework does, so they can help you plan a safe and successful display. If you tell them what you like and are looking for, they can provide recommendations.

He reiterated the need to avoid the lines, beat the heat, and go early. You’ll have the best selection that way. Otherwise, you’ll have to wait in a long line and pick through the little that is left, Monaco says. Many locations are selling out early.
