Whether or not you are heading back to school, you will probably want to order a pair of these special-edition sneakers from the Vans x Mongoose collection presented by Our Legends. The collaboration dropped today and celebrates the brands' shared history in BMX and their deep-rooted love of SoCal pop culture. Plus, being honest, the teal, white and purple pair of classic lace-up Vans give off extreme Zach Morris vibes in the best way possible.

Mongoose and Vans brought in design studio Our Legends to create the collaboration, which features three different designs. There are classic Vans slip-ons in white and teal in addition to a lace-up pair of almost-basic black sneakers with pops of orange and red, and checkerboard low lace-up sneakers in white, red, and blue.

The colorways are primarily based on classic Mongoose colors, with nods to Vans' original styling by using the original Authentic 44 DX and some of Vans' classic shapes and patterns. (Who didn’t have a pair of checkerboard slip-on Vans in high school?)

“It was amazing to partner with Vans and Mongoose to bring these special edition shoe collections and heritage stories to life,” Chad ‘Shoes’ Blawas, creative studio director for Our Legends, explained.

“We wanted to pay homage to both of these iconic brands with designs that reflected multiple eras, and we truly feel we accomplished that and are offering collections that can be enjoyed by BMX core and lifestyle enthusiasts around the globe.”

The shoes represent three decades of BMX. The black Authentic 44 DX was inspired by the Mongoose bike graphics and stickers first introduced in the 1970s, which had orange and yellow rainbow coloring with black branding and reflective details.

The 1980s-inspired colorway ties back to the Americana jerseys that the Mongoose BMX race team wore, featuring bold red and blue checkerboard with the brand’s animated mascot, Maurice, on the sidewall.

Then. of course, there are the nineties. The two-tone turquoise and pink checkerboard design is a loose reissue from colors used in past Mongoose advertisements.

All three shoes sell for $105 per pair. The collection also features long-sleeve t-shirts for $50 and a fleece for $80; both with similar colors and vintage marketing materials from each brand. You can purchase them all at Mongoose.com, OurLegends.co, and Vans.com, as well as at select Vans dealers globally.
