To keep warm during the holidays, coffee shops are often the place to stop with seasonal offerings and versions of favorite drinks, and central Kansas is no different.

For people making a stop in the "Little Sweden" downtown of Lindsborg, there are plenty of options to choose from at more than one location.

Blacksmith Coffee Shop and Roastery, 122 N. Main St. in Lindsborg, just announced this year's holiday blend of coffee, Glad Tidings, a full city roast the roastery says has notes of cranberry, cinnamon and Swiss chocolate.

In addition to its holiday blend, the coffee shop also has a series of seasonal drinks to try:

  • The Jül latte, made with house-made cardamom syrup blended with espresso and steamed milk and topped with cinnamon.

  • The peppermint bark mocha, espresso and house-made peppermint syrup, mocha sauce and steamed milk.

  • Fireside latte, with house-made burnt caramel orange syrup, espresso and steamed milk.

For those who can't make it to Lindsborg, Blacksmith also has a drive-thru location in Salina at 2029 S. Ohio St.

Also in downtown Lindsborg, The White Peacock Coffee Shop, 124 S. Main St., also has a series of seasonal drinks this year, including a non-coffee option:

  • Christmas cookie mocha, a cookie butter, almond and white chocolate mocha.

  • Eggnog latte.

  • Gingerbread macchiato, tasting of gingerbread and caramel sauce.

  • Peppermint hot chocolate.

In Salina, Mokas Cafe, 902 E Crawford St., is also getting into the holiday spirit with its Peppermint Twist drink, which it describes as a "delightful blend of rich white chocolate and cool peppermint."

Ad Astra Books and Coffee House, 135 N. Santa Fe Ave. always has a changing "Cause Latte" each month, with $1 of the proceeds going to a local Salina organization. For November, that is the Tuesday Night Latte, a toffee nut and chocolate latte that supports Salina Shares. Once the calendar rolls into December, that latte will be a gingerbread white chocolate latte, supporting the Oxford House.

Baked and frozen holiday treats also found locally in central Kansas

It's not just drinks that bring the holiday spirit to people but also comfort foods, especially desserts and sweets.

Seraphim Bread, tucked away in Spillman Plaza at 228C S. Santa Fe Ave. in downtown Salina, began taking orders on Nov. 14 and will continue until Dec. 22 for its holiday menu, which includes baked sweets like cinnamon, orange and caramel nut rolls, pumpkin rolls, bread pudding and more.

Finally, back in Lindsborg, Indigo Moo'd Ice Cream, 125 N. Main St., is offering some homemade and frozen holiday ice cream flavors throughout the season, including peppermint and eggnog. For a taste of Sweden, Indigo Moo'd also has the ice cream flavors lingonberry swirl and the Swedish kringler, a traditional almond pastry.
