The famous and oh-so-fabulous turned out at Artis—Naples last week to celebrate opening night at the 14th Naples International Film Festival.

The Oct. 27 event featured two red carpets that hosted filmmakers and Neapolitan guests attending the screening of "Butterfly in the Sky," starring Reading Rainbow's LeVar Burton.

Style isn't about money, though sometimes it helps. From H&M's trendy, off-the-rack pieces to high-end designers found at Marissa Collections and Saks Fifth Avenue, several of the chicest looks of the night mixed it up as Sharon Stone did at the Oscars in 1996 when pairing her white GAP T-shirt with a Vera Wang skirt.

Citing 2022's Met Gala as the ultimate harbinger of red carpet fashion, influential stylist Sarah LaMont of WhyStyle in Naples provided her forecast for NIFF's red carpet for looks we're likely to see around town this season.

Trend No. 1: Cutouts that offer demure peek-a-boo hints of skin and flatter the figure.

Trend No. 2: Transparency via romantic overlays and vintage lace inspired this trend when worn by Vanessa Hudgens and Kerry Washington, winning accolades from USA TODAY as among the Met Gala's best-dressed guests.

Trend No. 3: Vintage fabrications in response to manufacturing delays during the pandemic, an aesthetic that continues to be strong and evidenced in mixed prints, patchworking and vintage items.

Trend No. 4: Exaggerated puffy sleeves and strong shoulder pads, a youthifying power-suit update. If Joan Collins as Alexis Carrington Colby was hitting NIFF's red carpet, this might be her look but as the saying goes, if you wore this trend the first time around, consider bypassing its return.

Trend No. 5: Sets and midriff a la Kourtney Kardashian's cropped white top and maxi skirt at the Met Gala.

Trend No. 6: Feathers and fringe whose textures add playfulness and whimsy, inspired by Anna Wintour's Chanel gown at the 2022 Met Gala.

Trend No. 7: Coats, capes and menswear including oversized blazers and suits in place of gowns. LaMont notes this trend mixes the masculine and feminine on the red carpet. Serena Williams rocked the look at the Met Gala as did NIFF partygoer Borana Kondakciu whose plus one Dominic Lacquaniti of D.Lacquiniti Bespoke in North Naples designed her stunning couture suit.

Timeless winter white looks in contemporary silhouettes and luxurious fabrications were also trending at the festival.

Local celebs in our midst

Joan Rivers's celebrity interviews for E! were always the best part of any live red-carpet event. NIFF's red carpet attracted mother-daughter luxury real-estate powerhouses Dolly and Jenny Lenz, who are listing the late comedienne's palatial New York City penthouse (including a guest apartment) if you have a cool $38 million on hand.

We also hear that NIFF's presenting sponsors Richard Lublin and Christine Stahl Lublin will appear on HBO's "Curb Your Enthusiasm."
