Looking for more of Mize?

Dear Valued Subscriber,

Welcome to Don't Miss Reads, our weekly newsletter highlighting some of our editors' favorite stories, photos and videos that you might have missed.

I'm David Dishman, the business editor here at The Oklahoman and it's my pleasure to share not only a couple great stories to check out, but to introduce you to our brand new real estate newsletter! I'm extremely excited about it as it will be written weekly by our real estate expert, Richard Mize.

I first started working with Richard as a fellow business writer in December 2017. I was new to The Oklahoman, and while I wasn't a rookie reporter my experience paled in comparison to that of Richard — who had been working as a reporter and editor across Oklahoma and Texas for years before I first started my career. He quickly became one of my favorite colleagues as we shared similarities having lived and worked in rural areas, and we shared a disdain for the oft worshipped Oklahoma Sooners (Richard being an Oklahoma State alum, and me being a Mizzou alum, found friendship over our shared gridiron foe).

But what I enjoyed and respected most about Richard was his incredible voice as a writer. His country roots shine through, as does his passion for people and the community. And he does it all while covering real estate, of all things!

Fast forward five years and I'm thrilled to watch him launch a newsletter that will focus on all the nitty gritty details of real estate in the metro. From housing, to apartments, to industrial and beyond — Richard is the ultimate authority on the market in our area, and his expertise is paired with some of the most clever and genuine writing in our newsroom.

You can sign up for the newsletter following this link, where you will see Richard in a cowboy hat, wearing his Cowboy orange.

In it, you'll find weekly content like two of the stories he produced this week, which focus on home affordability as interest rates tick up, and what lies ahead for the housing market as it cools in the metro.

If real estate isn't your thing, as always I appreciate your readership and I want to thank you for taking some time to read through this newsletter. Readers like you are why I do this!

Below are links to more of our editors' favorite stories of the week. We hope you enjoy them as much as we did.
