Grace Church — Grace Church is excited to announce its annual "Church in the Park" event, set to take place on Sept. 24 at Sam Houston Park. This community-centered gathering promises a day of faith, fellowship, and fun for all ages. The event starts at 10 a.m. and features a dynamic service, baptisms, food and a dodgeball tournament. The day begins with praise and worship from the Grace Church worship team and a heartfelt Gospel message from Pastor Bill Gehm. Following the service, Grace Church will hold a baptism ceremony for those wishing to profess their faith and commitment to Christ publicly. Attendees can enjoy a free hot dog meal and purchase a snow cone from Kona Ice at a discounted price. The dodgeball tournament begins just after the food line starts. Hartley, Texas — A life-size marble casting of Michelangelo’s Pietà has been placed at St. John Paul II Family Life Center, 1400 Central Avenue, in Hartley. The famous work of art depicts the body of Jesus on the lap of his mother Mary after the Crucifixion. The Vatican Observatory Foundation has authorized and licensed the creation of only 100 Pietà marble castings from a mold derived from the original Pietà. This Pieta has been donated as a legacy gift by the Catholic Loyalty Foundation of Santa Clarita, California.
