Looking for selfie scenery? Backdrops from 8 different decades are coming to Mayfair Mall
By taking selfies, people can soon take a journey through the decades and into the future at Mayfair Mall.
An interactive photo experience with eight unique backdrops will allow selfie-takers to travel to their favorite decades and beyond with eight different sets for selfies and Instagram-worthy content.
The Selfie Studio: Decades Tour will be at Mayfair Mall, 2500 N. Mayfair Road in Wauwatosa, Aug. 11 to Sept. 11.
"For the nostalgic shopper who wants to take a trip down memory lane or the curious shopper who wants to explore the different eras, we invite them to step inside to experience the decade’s aesthetic, fashion and ambiance," said Jessica Perri, marketing manager for Mayfair Mall.
Perri said the studio will allow people visiting the mall to "get creative and experience the mall in a new way."
"In the age of viral content and internet trends, selfies are a way for people to capture moments, create memories and express themselves," she said.
The classic selfie studio sets: The '50s, '60s and '70s
The '50s set features a retro diner which includes colorful signage, checkered flooring, vintage wall décor, a diner counter, stools and a custom-lit jukebox.
The '60s, called Mellow Meadows, boasts peace and love, and brings out "the flower child" in people. It features a VW van painted with colorful designs.
The '70s set, called "Disco Fever: Transporting Guests to a Boogie Night's Dream," shows a disco scene with disco balls and a neon floor.
The sets for the '80s and '90s feature video games and movies
For the '80s set, the theme is "The Gamer." This set features a pixelated paradise where people can take photos with oversized video game icons with neon lighting.
The '90s theme is "The Video Store," where picture-takers can relive the excitement of renting their favorite movies.
Sets from the 2000s, current day and the future
The set from 2000s is themed, "Teenage Dream: Making Fetch Happen." This backdrop will include wall-to-ceiling pink fur, custom lockers and a mirror that one can use "for that lip gloss check before class," said Perri.
The set for the current day, said Perri, is the meme-themed "Gone Viral."
"Set in today’s meme culture, this pop-up will have guests LOL’ing with a floor-to-ceiling photo series featuring some of the internet’s most viral memes," she said.
The last set, "The Future," is a "revolutionary gateway to an alternative universe," she said, featuring sleek design elements, LED lighting, custom seating and more, as guests are transported to the future.
