Looking for a six-figure gig in Charlotte? Here are $100K salary jobs available now

Though hiring has slowed since its peak during the COVID-19 pandemic, there are plenty of open positions that need to be filled.

From May to June, the number of new hires across the country decreased from 6.2 million to 5.9 million, according to data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics released this month. In North Carolina, the number of hires dropped from 407,000 to 363,000 during the same period.

Data show from LinkedIn show there is one job available for every two applicants, which is a sign that the labor market is cooling off.

In Charlotte, there are currently more than 70 job openings for city positions, and some of those positions pay upwards of six figures.

New city employees also receive various benefits, including paid vacation, paid sick leave, medical and life insurance coverage, and more.

Here is a list of city agencies with open positions paying $100,000 annually.

Charlotte Water

Charlotte Water seeks a senior engineering project manager to oversee capital improvement projects and projects for the city’s water treatment division. The department is also seeking a senior engineer to perform engineering analyses on water distribution systems, development and operation of hydraulic models, and participate in improvement projects.

The department is also looking for a senior engineer to manage project coordination meetings, engineering plan review, project management, and permitting for donated water and sanitary sewer infrastructure projects.

The maximum salary for all positions is $103,443, according to the job listings.

Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or a related field and at least five years of relevant experience.

Storm Water Services

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Storm Water Services is seeking a senior engineer to manage engineering consultants and provide technical expertise and guidance for storm drainage improvement projects.

The department is also seeking a senior engineer to oversee the success of the city’s stream wetlands and storm water pollution control efforts.

The maximum salary for both positions is $103,443, according to the job listing.

A bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field, five years of experience, and registration as a professional engineer are required for both positions.

Charlotte Area Transit System

The Charlotte Area Transit System is looking for a senior engineer to prepare and direct the preparation of plans for contract awards and provide technical assistance in the review of development plans.

The maximum salary for the position is $103,443, according to the job listing.

Applicants must have a degree from an accredited college or university in civil engineering or a related field, at least five years of relevant experience, and registration as a professional engineer.

Aviation

Charlotte’s aviation department is seeking a senior engineering project manager to oversee the planning, design, and construction of complex airport projects. The position is hybrid, with three days in the office and two remote days per week.

The maximum salary for the position is $108,614, according to the job listing.

Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree and five years of relevant experience.
