'Wild Boar Cooks'

As part of the Young Audiences of Abilene's Summer Library Series, a production of "Wild Boar Cooks" will be presented at 10:45 a.m. and 3 p.m. at the Abilene Public Library, 202 Cedar St. Admission is free.

Movie at the library

A free showing of "The Spongebob Squarepants Movie" will begin at 2:30 p.m. at the Mockingbird Branch of the Abilene Public Library, 1326 N. Mockingbird Lane.

DanceOLD GLORY − A country music dance will begin at 7 p.m. at the Old Glory Community Center. A live band will perform, and refreshments will be served. For information, call 940-989-2816.

TYE − The Wagon Wheel Squares will conduct a square dance workshop at 6 p.m. at the Wagon Wheel. Tracey Dowell will be the caller.

Bilingual storytime

Isabel Trujillo will present a program of stories and music in both English and Spanish at 10:15 a.m. at the Mockingbird Branch of the Abilene Public Library, 1326 N. Mockingbird Lane.

THURSDAY, JULY 14

Dachshund Races canceled

Rescue the Animals, SPCA has announced that the annual Dachshund Races and Rescued Dog Reunion that was scheduled to open at 5 p.m. at the Festival Gardens at Nelson Park has been canceled due to expected high temperatures.

Documentary

CISCO − Tea Party Patriots of Eastland County will present a screening of the documentary "Grid Down, Power Up" at 6:30 p.m. at the Myrtle Wilks Community Center, 1498 West Interstate 20. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m.

History talk

Kenneth Wilson will give a presentation on history based on his book, "Snapshots and Short Notes," at 7 p.m. at The Grace Museum, 102 Cypress St.

Sea tales

As a part of the Abilene Public Library's "Sea Tales" program, a showing of the documentary "Deep Blue" will begin at 4 p.m. at the South Branch Library in the Mall of Abilene.

'Newsies, Jr.'

Abilene Performing Arts Company will present a production of "Disney's Newsies, Jr." at 7 p.m. at the Paramount Theatre, 352 Cypress St. Tickets are $5.

SATURDAY, JULY 16

Garageband Woodstock
