Cinco de Mayo is the celebration of Mexico's victory over France at the Battle of Puebla during the Franco-Mexican War in 1862. But, this holiday has become very popular in the United States over the past 20 years.

Many people look forward to the holiday to celebrate Mexican culture with family and friends. If you are looking to get out of the house and enjoy this culturally rich holiday here are 5 restaurants around Acadiana hosting Cinco de Mayo events.

Pedro's Tacos & Tequila Bar

If you want to party for Cinco de Mayo, Pedro's should be on your list. They will have live music from 12-9 p.m. and are offering $5 shots of tequila. They also have more than 14 different margaritas at the bar. Pedro's is located at 3323 Ambassador Caffery Pkwy.

Chuy's

This popular Tex-Mex chain will have all day Happy Hour including $5 queso appetizers and $1 floaters to top off your margarita with an extra pour of tequila. Chuy's is located at 4505 Ambassador Caffery Pkwy.

Trapp's

Trapp's in Broussard is having a celebration complete with buy one get one free margaritas on the rocks, $5 frozen margaritas, $3 tequila shots, $15 100-ounce beer towers,$10 Zydeco tacos and $10 seafood nachos. Trapp's is located at 209 N Morgan Ave., Broussard

El Paso Mexican Grill

Party from Lafayette to New Iberia with El Paso Mexican Grill. The four locations will be serving 2-for-1 margaritas all day. They'll also have live music starting as early as 10:30 a.m. El Paso's locations are 1809 W. Pinhook Rd.; 3910 Ambassador Caffery Pkwy.; 816 E Admiral Doyle Dr. New Iberia; and 200 Brookdale Blvd, Youngsville.

Agave Grill and Cantina

All three locations—Downtown Lafayette, Bertrand Drive and Youngsville—will have live music, $5 tequila shots, $6 house margaritas and $10 large margaritas. Music will begin at 6 p.m. at the 200 E Vermilion St. and 525 Bertrand Dr. locations in Lafayette and at 3 p.m. at 2810 E. Milton Ave, Ste. 101 in Youngsville.
