Looking for special vegan dishes? Then this Lexington dining week is for you.

A popular Lexington dining week is back for its third year with more than a dozen options to try out.

Lexington Vegan Week will be April 23-29 this year. Put on now by Black Soil KY, Lexington Vegan Week encourages restaurants to source menu items from Kentucky Proud farmers and growers.

Participating local restaurants and businesses will have special vegan menu items and discounts showcasing delicious and diverse options available in plant-based eating, from vegan burgers to sushi rolls.

The list of 14 participating Lexington restaurants this year include Bourbon ’n’ Toulouse, Broom Wagon, Crank & Boom, Cafe Emporio, Girls Girls Girls Burritos, Genesis Coffee House & Eatery, Josanne’s Homestyle Kitchen, Lussi Brown Coffee Bar, Minton’s 760, Moody Mike’s Food Truck, Nourished Folks, Rise Up! Pizza, Woke Junk Food Vegan and Zundo Ramen & Sushi.

Lexington Vegan Week restaurants, menu

Bourbon ‘n’ Toulouse, 829 Euclid Ave. and 1080 S. Broadway Suite 107, will have its Thai Peanut Sauce, a Thai-style peanut sauce with baby corn, fresh mushrooms, red bell peppers and finished with plant-based cream. Comes with a side of toasted Sunrise Bakery French bread topped with Cajun soy “butter.”

Broomwagon Bikes & Cafe, 800 N. Limestone, will have Green Goblin Noods, a sweet spicy Thai inspired noodle salad with a matcha kick.

Cafe Emporio, 808 N. Limestone, will have The Antipesto: Artichokes, kalamata olives, green & black olives, roasted red peppers, sun dried tomatoes, onions and mushrooms in an Italian herb EVOO blend on a Sunrise Sesame sub bun.

Crank & Boom Craft Ice Cream, 1210 Manchester St. and 3101 Clays Mill Rd., will have the Vegan Peanut Butter Sorghum Crunch Sundae. Created by C&B pastry chefs Michelle Kovach and Sam Sabad, this vegan non-dairy frozen dessert is made with coconut cream, natural peanut butter and dark chocolate. It’s served in a mug with vegan graham crumble, drizzled with local strawberry sauce then garnished with non dairy topping and a vegan peanut butter cookie. And you get to keep the mug!

Genesis Coffee House & Eatery, 1403 N. Forbes Rd., will have the Bluegrass BBQ Burger featuring a vegan patty, vegan barbecue sauce, vegan cheddar cheese and grilled onions on a vegan roll.

Josanne’s Homestyle Kitchen, 3449 Buckhorn Dr., will have the Buckhorn Buffalo Sandwich, a Southern-style hand-breaded and fried oyster mushroom with Buffalo sauce, vegan ranh and lettuce on a vegan roll.

Lussi Brown Coffee Bar, 114 Church St., will have Lavender Mocha, made with housemade lavender syrup, cocoa, espresso and choice of oat, coconut or almond milk. Hot or iced.

Minton’s 760, 760 N. Limestone, menu item to be announced.

Moody Mike’s Food Truck, will have a Yorkshire Burrito: Yorkshire pudding (bread) freshly made and baked in-house, filled with jackfruit pot roast with spices, carrots, spinach and potatoes, with horseradish for extra flavor. Moody Mike’s will be at Pivot Brewing on Delaware on April 12, 13 and 16, at Pasta Garage on Delaware on April 14, and at The Void Sake on National on April 15.

Nourished Folks, 101 W. Loudon Ave. in Greyline Station, will have a Black Soil Kentucky Vegetable Showcase with roasted carrot and radish on top of white bean puree with an herby drizzle.

Rise Up! Pizza, 101 W. Loudon Ave. in Greyline Station, will do a pineapple and cashew pizza in collaboration with Tuk Tuk Lex.

Woke Junk Food Vegan, 120 Dennis Dr., on April 23 will have Slick-Fil-A special sandwich with plant-based ‘chicken’, lettuce, tomato, mayo or (Woke’s sauce), pickle and a side (vegan mac n cheese, kale slaw, home fries, house-fried chips.) Or choose an eight-piece “nugget” meal, or a chickpea “chick’n” salad sandwich. April 24-28, menu will be street tacos, choice of fried “chick’n” taco, “shrimp” taco or Buffalo cauliflower taco with cilantro lime rice and street corn.

Zundo Izakaya, 127 W. Tiverton Way, will have vegan ramen, sushi rolls and plant-based gyoza as well as plant-based Japanese barbecue skewers.
