Looking for spring, Easter entertainment? Here are some upcoming Augusta area festivities

Easter is Sunday, but there are egg hunts and spring celebrations happening throughout the Augusta area through out the week, as well as some special religious services.

Here are more details on some of the upcoming Easter and spring-themed festivities:

Full-Service Festivals

Below are the festivals that offer a little bit of everything this season; from egg hunts and rides to face painting and food trucks.

Bridge Community Church's "Community Easter Day" is 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Hephzibah church at 103 Diamond Lakes Way. There will be egg hunt, games, crafts, food, face painting, inflatables and a visit from the Easter Bunny.

Kennedy Middle's "Easter Eggs-perience" is Saturday at the Aiken school at 274 E. Pine Log Rd. There will be egg hunts all morning in addition to inflatables, animals from Eudora Farms, food vendors, a visit from the Easter Bunny, touch-a-trucks, and other activities. Admission is free. Fort Gordon's "Spring Fest" is 5-10 p.m. April 13-16 on the base's Barton Field. Each day will feature a different set of activities. Here is the schedule:

  • Thursday - Carnival, food, games, and rides.

  • Friday - Vendor village, adult beverages, carnival, food, games, and rides.

  • Saturday - Flea market, pet adoptions, vendor village, pony rides, free kids' activities, food and beer garden, car show, carnival, games, and rides.

  • Sunday - Carnival, food, games, and rides.

Egg Hunts

While the festivals feature several fun-filled activities, the events below predominantly center around eggs, baskets, and a lot of running around.

Fatty Masha’s Annual Easter Eggstravaganza returns 2-5 p.m. Saturday at Pendleton King Park in Augusta at 1600 Troupe St. There will be free food, games and prizes. The egg hunt will start 4:30 p.m. and is for ages 2-12.

The 3rd annual "Harlem Hoppening" is 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at North Harlem Elementary School at 360 West Triple St. in Harlem. There will be egg hunts, food, games and other activities. Admission is free.

For something more nostalgic, Augusta Museum's Easter Egg Hunt for History is Good Friday (April 7) through Easter Sunday. Guests will scour the halls for eggs that earn the hunter stickers or collectible trading cards. The hunt is free with museum admission, which starts at $3 for guests ages six and up. Younger guests get in free. The museum is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday-Saturday, 1-5 p.m. Sunday. It's located in Augusta at 560 Reynolds St.

Nonprofit Development: Golden Harvest Food Bank developing new centers for volunteers, produce rescue

Grace Fellowship's "Easter Eggstravaganza Picnic" is 11 a.m. Saturday at the North Augusta church at 507 West Five Notch. Lunch will be partnered with egg hunts for all ages.

Orange Otter Toy's Egg Hunt is Saturday inside the North Augusta toy store at 336 Georgia Ave. Each egg will earn the hunter either a discount or a free toy. Admission is free.

South Aiken Pres' Easter Egg Hunt is 9 a.m. Saturday at the Aiken church at 1711 Whiskey Rd. Toy and candy filled eggs will be hidden through out the grounds and a light breakfast will be provided.

New Hope Gospel Chapel's Easter Party is 11 a.m. Saturday at the Beech Island church at 929 Herndon Dairy Rd. There will be an egg hunt, crafts, games, and lunch.

Here are a few more upcoming egg hunts:

  • Augusta First Church of the Nazarene's 11 a.m. Saturday at the Augusta church at 2044 Lumpkin Rd.

  • St. Mary's Episcopal Church's immediately following the 11:15 a.m. service Easter Sunday at the downtown Augusta church at 1114 12th St.

  • MERCY Church's is 10:30 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Aiken church at 2700 Whiskey Rd.

Easter Bunny Meetups

While the Easter Bunny may be visiting many festivities, the events below are his chance to be in the spotlight.

Cold Creek Nurseries' "Hoppy Day" is 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Aiken garden center at 398 Hitchcock Pkwy. The Easter Bunny will be there along with plenty of eggs filled with prizes across the nurseries.

The Easter Bunny and other fantasy characters will be Wallace Branch Library in Augusta at 1237 Laney Walker Blvd. at 11:30 a.m. Saturday. There will be photo-ops as well as crafts, music and dancing. Admission is free, but families are asked to register ahead of time online at allevents.in.

The Easter Bunny is also at the Augusta Mall now through Easter Sunday. Visits can be scheduled any day of the week. Appointments can be made online at augustamall.com.

Special Easter Sunday Services

Mosaic Church's Easter Community Sunrise Service starts 7 a.m. at the Columbia County Amphitheater near the Columbia County Library in Evans at 7022 Evans Town Center Blvd. Rooted Coffeehouse will be on site with a cart providing pick-me-ups to congregants.

Christway's Easter Sunday is full of activities at the Augusta church at 4004 Prescott Dr. A sunrise service starts at 7 a.m. followed by a full breakfast at 8 a.m. and an egg hunt at 9 a.m.

Here are a few more services celebrating the rise of the Son with the rise of the sun:

  • Wesley United Methodist Church's at 6:30 a.m. in Evans at 825 N Belair Rd.

  • Trinity on the Hill UMC's at 7 a.m. in Augusta.

  • Mosaic Church's at 7 a.m. at the Columbia County Amphitheater in Evans at 7022 Evans Towne Center Blvd.

  • Harlem Baptist Church's at 7 a.m. outside the Harlem church at 105 W. Milledgeville Rd.

Oak Ministries' first annual "Worship in the Park" is 2-5 p.m. at Evans Towne Center Park's Red Maple Pavilion in Evans at 7016 Evans Towne Center Blvd. Families are invited to bring their lawn chairs for an afternoon of fellowship, food, games, and prizes.

Triumphant Family Christian Center's "Rise Up" service is 11 a.m. at the Augusta ministry at 1751 Gordon Hwy. Worship will be accompanied by an egg hunt, games, food, and activities.
