For those looking to travel this spring, we've come up with some ideas that will let you do all of the above while visiting the West Coast.

Here are four of our favorite places and things to do in California, Oregon and Washington.

A hidden gem: Cuyama, California

Cuyama sits in the heart of Central California's high desert, near Santa Barbara County and is just 2⅟₂ hours from Santa Barbara and Los Angeles airports.

Cuyama Buckhorn sits in what is known as the Hidden Valley of Enchantment. Originally built in 1952 as a roadside motel, the property has been transformed into an oasis for resorting. While maintaining its old-world charm, the boutique hotel has become a haven for all types of travelers. Pet-friendly with lots of room options, the property boasts a heated 60-foot-by-20-foot pool along with a barrel sauna and hot tub with sunset views. While all rooms are lovely, the Enchanted suite offers more space with a comfortable king size bed, full living room, and semi-private patio for hanging out.

The property also hosts fun events such as movie nights, live music, bingo game nights and much more. There’s also plenty of activities off-site as well including the Bitter Creek Wildlife Refuge, a 20-minute drive where birdwatching is popular. See if you can spot the endangered California condor, which is known to call this habitat home. There is a good selection of local wineries such as Condor’s Hope Vineyard, which offers local wines and olive oil, and Cuyama Sunset Sips, which features local mead by Cuyama Beverage Co., honey and jujubes. Although it is a roughly a 1-hour drive to Carrizo Plain National Monument, it is worth it to see the vast plains landscape, surrounded by dramatic mountains.

You'll also want to visit The Buckhorn Restaurant, which was originally established in 1952 and today serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. It's farm-to-table comfort food at its best, with plenty of various burger options as well as appetizers and drinks. The bar serves spirits and wine from local distilleries and wineries and room service is also offered.
