The most common New Year resolution has something to do with living a healthier lifestyle, whether that be working out, eating better or losing weight.

If you're looking for a local gym or new exercise group to jump-start your New Year’s resolution, here are a few local options:

Kaweah Health Lifestyle Fitness Center

Kaweah Health Lifestyle Fitness Center’s 55,000-square-foot facility has a pool, gym, and kid zone and offers group and personal training as well as cryotherapy.

The center's monthly fee is $49 for a single membership or $89 for a family of 3-4.

The gym’s membership office is open 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, Saturday is 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The office is closed on Sunday. The gym, located at 5105 W. Cypress Ave., is open from 4:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekdays and 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekends.

XGT Fitness

XGT Fitness – located at 315 E. Main St., Suite B – offers group personal training for fat burning and muscle building. There are four XGT phases, learn, burn, build and active, which means there is a little something at this gym for everyone.

In-Shape

There are a few In-Shape locations throughout Visalia, and some offer (and cost) more than others.

The In-Shape at 909 N. Demaree St. has seven tennis courts, racquetball courts, an outdoor pool, cardio machines and weight training equipment. Membership is $49.99 a month as well as a $49.99 enrollment fee.

The Demaree location is open from Mon, 4 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.  

The In-Shape at 1313 S. Mooney Blvd. has a cardio area and group fitness classes, including Les Mills and Zumba. Membership is $39.99 a month on top of a $49.99 enrollment fee.

The South Mooney location is open from Mon, 4 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.

X Factor Fitness

X Factor Fitness – located at 1208 N. Demaree Street – is a locally owned and operated full-service gym that offers a variety of exercise equipment and machines.

Individual membership starts at $35 a month on top of a $50 enrollment fee and $29 annual maintenance fee. X Factor also offers discounted military, veteran, law enforcement and first responder memberships at $30 a month with a $50 enrollment fee.

Planet Fitness

Planet Fitness has two membership options – PF Black Card and Classic.

The Classic membership is $10 a month, plus taxes and fees, on top of a $49 annual fee and $1 startup fee. The Classic membership gives users access to their local gym and does not require a minimum commitment.

The PF is $24.99 a month, plus taxes and fees, on top of a $49 annual fee on top of a 12-month commitment. Users have access to any Planet Fitness and can bring a guest at any time, on top of other perks.

Both membership offers expire on Dec. 30.

Visalia’s Planet Fitness, located at 3535 W. Walnut Ave., is open 24 hours a day.

Coming soon: The Bar Method

The Bar Method is a boutique fitness studio, offering barre classes to students at all fitness levels. The signature barre method uses your own body weight alongside a ballet barre and a few props. The workout is meant to help create long, lean sculpted muscles.

Located at 5141 W. Walnut Ave., The Bar Method is coming to Visalia in early 2023. There are currently community classes at The Planning Mill; however, space is limited. Email visalia@barmethod.com to reserve a spot or learn more.
