Finding the headspace, motivation and gear to work out can be a lot of work before the workout even begins.

Nothing helps with that quite like a workout guide (or buddy), which is where the fitness influencers come in. Available with just a few clicks whenever you need a bit of motivation or a workout plan, fitness influencers have created a new easily accessible way to exercise with options for all different types of training.

These are some of the Rhode Island fitness influencers making a name for themselves.

Margaret Cresta

When Margaret Cresta started to turn fitness into a way of life, she immediately noticed that she felt “so much better, more positive, more productive.” Through Instagram, she’s taken her followers on the journey with them, offering motivation and coaching along the way.

“I’ve always been a determined girl with endless goals,” Cresta said in a statement. “The audience I’ve built is so special to me because I see that in them. They go at life every single day and their consistency inspires me.”

Cresta moved to Rhode Island from Boston in 2019 and occasionally leads in-person events in both states. She also has an app, Sweat Enrgy, with workouts, workout challenges and meal planning.

As his handle suggests, he has outfitted his home with a serious strength training gym, regularly posting reviews on everything from different bars to shoes. Beyond the equipment reviews, he posts videos of his own workouts, competitions and nutrition. He also sells some merchandise branded with his signature hashtag #bardontlie.

Nicole Toppa

Nicole Toppa’s tagline is “helping busy moms lose weight, ditch diets and increase her energy.” An online health and fitness coach and certified personal trainer with three kids, Toppa teaches two fitness classes a week via Instagram live from her basement for a solid 20 to 30-minute workout.

In addition to the live workouts, her very pink feed is full of workout tips and motivational advice that leave those who watch her videos with the impression that she is on their side. She preaches a positive mindset, finding movement that you love, eating nutritious foods (but not a diet), and consistency.
