Celebrities gathered in New York City on Monday for the 2023 Met Gala.
The theme and dress code for the event paid tribute to the late designer Karl Lagerfeld.
Hollywood's biggest stars arrived in shades of pink, white, and black.
A$AP Rocky and Rihanna
Unsurprisingly, Rihanna arrived extremely — and fashionably — late to the Met Gala.
When she showed up with A$AP Rocky, the couple turned heads with their looks.
Rihanna wore a custom Valentino ensemble: a voluminous hooded cape covered in large, white camellias — made iconic under Karl Lagerfeld's artistic direction at Chanel — and a ballgown-style dress. She added a pair of white-rimmed, cat-eye sunglasses with eyelash details for a touch of whimsy.
At her side, A$AP Rocky wore a long Gucci kilt over a pair of jeans adorned with crystals and a white shirt, black tie, and black suit jacket with a sparkly broach. According to Harper's Bazaar, the ensemble was a tribute to an outfit that Lagerfeld wore to close out a Chanel fashion show in 2004.
Rihanna
Long hailed as the queen of the Met Gala, Rihanna put on a show as she removed her cape to reveal her full look: a gorgeous white dress with a sweet camellia embellishment on the bodice, spaghetti straps, and a full skirt.
According to a tweet from Valentino, Rihanna's silk faille dress had a 16-foot-long train and the silk faille cape — which the fashion house said its creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli "designed especially for her" — consisted of 30 camellias, 500 petals, and 25 leaves.
Jennifer Lopez
Lopez's custom Ralph Lauren gown featured a daring cutout on the bodice as its feathery halter neckline was connected to the skirt by two pieces of fabric.
The light-pink skirt was offset by the gown's black train. A black hat with a wispy structural detail completed the look. And two trailing pieces of black fabric formed a dramatic train that followed the actor as she walked the red carpet.
Lily James
Lily James wore a black leather gown by Tamara Ralph Couture. The dress' quilted bodice was adorned with a signature Chanel camellia embellishment. She accessorized with black, leather-and-mesh gloves and diamond jewelry.
Cardi B
The rapper's Chenpeng Studio gown nodded to Lagerfeld's many black suits.
The top of the dress looked like a shirt with a tie and a fitted bustier — studded with crystals for an extra dose of glamor — while the heavy, ballgown-style skirt was made up of oversized black rosettes.
Tems
Tems offered a riff on a suit with her Robert Wun gown.
The gown had a strapless, fitted black bodice, while a low-waisted skirt flowed out behind her. The fabric at the top of the skirt folded down around her hips, like the collar of a shirt.
Feathers flowed out from the neckline and the gown's detached sleeves, and a coordinating black headpiece with structural, branch-like tendrils added height and volume to her look.
Burna Boy
The singer chose a custom Burberry look for the Met Gala, arriving in a coordinating jacket and pants.
Both featured a blue-and-black plaid pattern, and a panel of fabric flowed out behind him, creating a train that added flair.
Westbrook chose a Bode ensemble for the Met Gala. It consisted of a cardigan with floral buttons, which he wore with no shirt, and patterned pants.
A pair of black loafers with a simple bow detail completed the look.
Skepta
Skepta also wore custom Burberry. Like Burna Boy, his outfit was blue and black, but his ensemble was a striped suit.
He wore a coordinating blue-and-white blanket draped over his shoulders to complete the look.

The actor kept his Met Gala look simple with a black tuxedo and sunglasses.
Zac Posen
Posen's three-piece tuxedo from Duca Sartoria felt both formal and relaxed. The look consisted of a pale-yellow vest and coordinating bow tie which he accented with a brooch, a jacket with tails, and relaxed pants.
The jacket cut higher than the vest, giving the look an eye-catching structure. And like many at the event, Posen added a pair of sunglasses — likely a nod to Lagerfeld.
Jeremy Scott
The standout feature of Scott's white Moschino tuxedo was the jacket, which had black detailing on the lapels and tails that was made to look like feathers. A black cummerbund and pants drew the eye to the jacket.
Jeremy Pope
Pope took the Met Gala theme literally, wearing a memorable Balmain look that consisted of flared black pants with a long, white cape embossed with an illustration of Lagerfeld. The cape was over 30 feet long, according to Fashionista, and made with over 16,000 feet of silk chiffon, requiring the work of 70 seamstresses.
Draped across the Met Gala red carpet, the cape made quite an impression.
Paris Hilton
Hilton's Marc Jacobs gown was a departure from her typical style. The black dress had off-the-shoulder, sparkly sleeves that flowed into gloves, while the bodice and skirt appeared to be made of figure-hugging latex.
She accessorized the look with sparkly, black platform heels and a coordinating rosette necklace.
Yung Miami
Yung Miami embraced volume with her Met Gala dress, wearing a black gown that included an oversized layer of structured, feathery fabric around her head that looked like a gothic flower.

The Thom Browne look featured an oversized jacket that was white on one side and black on the other and had a sheer trim. She then removed the jacket, revealing that the sheer trim was actually a separate dress that looked like a hoop skirt. Platform, lace-up boots added to the over-the-top look.
Allison Williams
Williams' orange dress was designed by Patou. The asymmetrical gown featured an oversized bow on one side that flowed into a train, and it belted at the waist.
Williams paired the look with black silk gloves and a black headband.

Plaza's white Stella McCartney dress had daring cutouts on the bodice and right hip that were both trimmed with silver chains.
