  • Details of Baby Archie's christening have reportedly been revealed.

  • It's believed Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are choosing a traditional royal ceremony for the baptism of their first child.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will christen baby Archie Harrison Mountbatten Windsor on Saturday 6 July in a traditional royal way - and he'll follow in the footsteps of his royal dad.

According to The Sunday Times, the newest member of the royal family will be baptised in early July in Windsor Castle - close to the location where his parents got married last year; and also where Prince Harry was christened in 1984. Archie will be christened in the Queen's Private Chapel, as opposed to the more public St George's Chapel.

Archie is expected to follow royal tradition by wearing a replica of the Honiton lace christening gown commissioned by Queen Victoria for the baptism of her first child Princess Victoria in 1841.

Both princes Harry and William have worn the gown, along with 60 other royal babies.

The Prince of Wales, the Duchess of Cornwall and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are all expected to attend the ceremony - however, The Times reports that the Queen will not be there due to prior commitments.

It is thought that the ceremonies will be conducted by the Dean of Windsor, Rev David Conner, and the Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby. The latter baptised and confirmed Meghan, who was raised a Protestant, into the Anglican faith two months before she married Harry.

The godparents have not yet been announced, although there's speculation they will include some of Meghan's friends from the US, including close pal Jessica Mulroney.

Baby Archie was first introduced to the world two days after his birth, and we haven't seen him again since as he and mum Meghan enjoy their time together (although she did take a break from maternity leave to attend Trooping the Colour). Of course, he slept throughout his first photocall - so a christening could be the first time we'd see him awake.

The ceremony will be private, but it's been confirmed that pictures will be revealed afterwards on Instagram. Plus, with Archie confirmed to be going on tour to Africa with his parents Meghan and Harry later this year, there'll be plenty more photo opportunities for him then.
