Loose Women receives 261 Ofcom complaints after debating Chrissy Teigen baby loss photos

Loose Women has received complaints about its presenters' discussion of Chrissy Teigen and the photos she shared of herself grieving the death of her baby on social media.
In a recent episode of the ITV talk show, which aired on October 1, panellists Jane Moore, Carol McGiffin, Nadia Sawalha and Christine Lampard touched on the star's tragic loss and weighed in on whether or not grief should be "a private thing".
According to Ofcom (via Sky News), the segment prompted 261 complaints. On social media, viewers voiced their disappointment as McGiffin said she felt "uncomfortable" seeing Teigen's pictures of herself and husband John Legend consoling one another in hospital.

Host Lampard urged people going through similar experiences not to "suffer in silence" and contact a helpline, although some viewers found the call hypocritical given the nature of the discussion.
"Who cares if their pictures make you 'uncomfortable', they are the ones grieving - if posting pictures helps & brings them comfort at this tragic time then that's what they should do. #babylossawareness," one Twitter user wrote.
"The way loose women spoke about chrissy teigen today was absolutely disgusting. everybody deals with their trauma and grief differently and they shouldn't be judged for that. vile," another said.
"Appalled at #loosewomen Carol McGiffin's attitude to Chrissy & John's loss," added a third.

Talking about her own experiences, Sawalha added: "I chose to come back from the hospital and have [the miscarriage] at home. It wasn't pleasant it was long and awful, Mark was with me.
"Mark was in real bits, I went to this strange place where I phoned everyone up, my family live next door. I rang everyone up and said get me some chickens and potatoes, I'm going to do a roast dinner.
"I was exhausted, I should have rested, but I wasn't going to let Mark tell me, I just wonder... if a bit of that comes into it because they're reeling and it shock."
"News gets out so fast with these stars, they probably wanted to control it. They are a rock solid couple," she concluded. "My heart really goes out to them."
