Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford's travel show How the Other Half Lives has been axed after falling "victim to the pandemic".

The Channel 5 series saw the couple explore the lives of the super-rich across various parts of the world, where they would meet multimillionaires and billionaires and join them in their daily activities of driving fast cars, flying by private jet, and attending exclusive parties.

The show aired for five seasons including a Christmas special, but there are no present plans to revive it, according to Eamonn.

"Sadly, the series fell victim to the pandemic - it was just impossible to get across the world to meet very rich people - and there are no plans to revive the series now," he told The Sun.

Eamonn continued: "But I do feel privileged to have been a part of it and to have met people in parts of the world that are no longer accessible.

"We got to spend time with some extraordinary people, including a billionaire and his wife in Ukraine and some of the richest people in Moscow."

Eamonn and Ruth previously presented This Morning on Fridays for 15 years, with their final episode airing in December 2020 before Dermot O'Leary and Alison Hammond took over.

Last year, Eamonn criticised ITV over his axe, claiming that he wasn't told why he and Ruth were leaving the show.

"No one explained anything to me," he said. "I'm all for TV companies being able to choose who works for them, but it would be nice if you were told why you were going."

Loose Women airs on weekdays at 12.30pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
